This past Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards were filled with dramatic looks! Not only did Lil Nas X and Lizzo steal the show with their red carpet fashion looks, but their nail looks were just as fierce thanks to their celebrity nail artists Temeka Jackson and Eri Ishizu.
Lizzo sported a glamorous set of silver chrome daggers because, you know, she always slays:

And Lil Nas X rocked a beautiful black mani with patterned accent nails to match his stunning outfit:

If your clients are having nail envy over these two vocal powerhouses, here’s how to execute each look using OPI in both gel and lacquer.
How to Get the Look: Lizzo

STEP 1: Start by applying one coat of OPI GelColor Stay Classic Base Coat. For the nail lacquer version, swap out with OPI Natural Nail Base Coat.
STEP 2: Apply one coat of OPI GelColor in “Clean Slate” (from OPI’s new Fall Wonders Collection). For the nail lacquer version, swap out with OPI Nail Lacquer in “Clean Slate.”
STEP 3: Next use OPI Chrome Effects in “Mixed Metals.” For the nail lacquer version, opt for one coat of OPI Infinite Shine in “Silver on Ice.”
STEP 4: Finish by applying OPI GelColor Stay Shiny Top Coat. For the nail lacquer version, use OPI Top Coat.
How to Get the Look: Lil Nas X

STEP 1: Start by using OPI GelColor Stay Classic Base Coat. For the nail lacquer version, swap out with OPI Natural Nail Base Coat.
STEP 2: Apply one coat of OPI GelColor in “Bubble Bath” on some nails and OPI GelColor in “Black Onyx” on the rest. For the nail lacquer version, use nail lacquers in “Bubble Bath” and “Black Onyx.”
STEP 3: For those that have “Bubble Bath” on the nail, take OPI GelColor in “Black Onyx” and using a sharp thin brush, create v-French, classic French and geometric shapes. Then fill in with a medium small flat brush.
STEP 4: Finish off the look with OPI GelColor Stay Shiny Top Coat. For the nail lacquer version, use OPI Top Coat.
