It is profoundly rare to hear a celebrity discuss their cosmetic procedures. First of all, it’s nobody’s business—no one has to “confess” what they’ve gotten done. Second, there seems to be a bit of an unspoken rule among famous people to let the commonfolk believe that they naturally look and age more agreeably. And in the unusual instance that someone does talk about their plastic surgery or injectables, there’s often an apologetic air behind the revelation, because they know they’re going to be judged. And that’s what makes Meghan Trainor‘s extremely enthusiastic announcement that she’s going to get a breast augmentation so delightful.
On Monday, November 25, Trainor posted a clip from the Workin’ On It podcast she hosts with brother Ryan Trainor and husband Daryl Sabara, its Instagram grid Reel cover showing a clearly excited Meghan with siren emojis and “BIG NEWS” in all caps. In the video, she’s chatting with Ryan about something a lot of moms can relate to: how her body changed after pregnancy and breastfeeding, and what she’s planning to do about it.
“I’m getting a boob job,” she says, and Ryan responds by congratulating her. “Because my mommy boobies were full of milk and now they’re empty and then full of milk and now they’re empty. They got big, they got small, they got big, they got small. I’ve lost some weight and I have sags on—just like saggy sack as boobs.”
Meghan goes on to explain a slightly less relatable, entertainer-unique motivation, but it’s still completely understandable. “What’s really difficult is trying on all these amazing outfits for tour and for shows coming up. I have to wear the most supportive bras, and it could ruin the outfit,” she says.
And it turns out, long before she became a mom, that’s she’s always wanted to get a breast augmentation regardless of how motherhood might have affected her body—which, if you’re wondering, is also totally OK.
“I’ve always joked and said for years, I can’t wait till I can get a boob job,” Meghan says.
“This is not a new thing, guys,” Ryan responds, saying that Meghan has been talking about this since she was 16.
“It might be new for all of our listeners, but I have wanted this my whole life. Yeah. I’m going to have boobies that don’t look at the floor and that’s fine. It’s going to be huge,” she says, catching herself. “They’re not going to be big. They’re going to be tiny. Sorry.”
