Although James says she’s mostly been using her own products since they’ve been in development, they don’t make up the entirety of her skin-care routine. Below, James lays out the products, treatments, and habits responsible for the skin we and the people in her comment section just can’t stop asking about.
Allure: At this point, are you just completely inundated with people begging you for skin care advice?
James: I give advice when it’s asked—I love it.
My routine is very simple. When I do too much for my skin, it gets angry with me. My favorite cleanser is iS Clinical Cleansing Complex. I love a peel pad by Skinbetter Science, and the Biore Rich sunscreen. It’s Japanese. It’s very light and it doesn’t leave a cast, so that’s one of my faves. I just keep it simple, to be honest.
Allure: Your “skin age,” as you recently learned, is 29. What parts of your routine do you credit for that?
James: To be honest, I think it has a lot to do with—and I’ve said this a lot, you’ll be like, “Girl…”—drinking water. Also, consistency. I could be dead-tired at the end of the night, and I am doing my routine. If my eyes are closing while I’m doing it, I’m at least washing my face and putting on my Circadian cream.
I love my esthetician. I see her once a month.
Allure: What treatments do you do with her?
James: I’m still a HydraFacial girl. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But I’ve recently started to get into microneedling because I’m a lady of a certain age…
Allure: 29.
James: [Laughs] Yeah, 29. I’m starting to see the different [treatments] I can use to make sure the pigment in my skin and my texture are even. Those are the main two things that I like to address when it comes to my skin—that and hydration.
Allure: I know organization is a must for you, too, because we’re both Virgos, and we Virgos don’t mess around with our storage systems.
James: No.
Allure: How do you keep your beauty products organized?
