Every time I think the coquette aesthetic is on its way out, a celebrity is like, “Hold my beer”—or, rather, “Hold my bow.” About a year ago, I was telling you guys about how Mandy Moore was making sure 2023’s hair-ribbon trend would carry over into 2024, and boy, did it. We must’ve written about celebrities doing the coquette thing at least a dozen times this year, but I honestly never predicted, as we approach 2025, that Khloé Kardashian would squeeze in her take on the cutesy look—and with an equally unexpected goth twist, no less.
When I think of Khloé Kardashian, neither “coquette” nor “goth” come to mind. She’s sporty, she’s sleek, she’s elevated club. But she’s having an out-of-character style moment with her latest look, which she posted to Instagram on Friday, December 27.
The TV personality and entrepreneur, who recently launched a new fragrance called XO Khloé, added four photos to a grid carousel, the last of which shows off the details of her hairstyle. Her nearly waist-length, rich medium-brown waves are pulled into a middle-parted, half-up look and held in place by—what else—a ribbon. A black ribbon, to be specific. But the ribbon color alone isn’t what gives it goth vibes; that’s courtesy of the rest of her outfit.
