ORLY’s presence at this year’s September New York Fashion Week was broad, with Key Nail Artist Holly Falcone (@hollyfalconenails) leading the charge. Falcone ideated and executed elegant nail looks for a host of luxury fashion labels that included Susan Alexandra, Sandy Liang, and more.
Falcone especially lauds ORLY’s Shining Armor Longwear Top Coat for its quick dry time and high shine, as well as their Builder in a Bottle Gel for strong adhesion of gems, expressing that both were tremendous assets in working backstage to create these special runway looks.

Chloe Fineman’s Beetle-Inspired Look–Susan Alexandra

“For this show, we had 12 different looks that were all ‘90s glam with Susan Alexandra touches added,” says Falcone. “The ‘90s were all about square nails in vampy colors, metallic greens and blues, confetti, and of course, a classic French tip. Since Susan Alexandra is all about accents, we used ORLY’s Builder in a Bottle to adhere crystals onto the nails.”

Uniformed Black–Sandy Liang

For the Sandy Liang show, Falcone executed three distinct nail looks to compliment the ensembles. “Most girls are wearing short, black nails as the collection plays an ode to uniforms,” she explains of the first set. “Black gives it that uniformed look, plus it ties into that nostalgia of an edgy girl in the ‘90s and translates it to a simple, elegant woman with an edge today.”

Pink Ballet but Anime–Sandy Liang

Of the pink nails, Falcone says that the look “pays a nod to that ballet-inspired pink satin look, but make it anime. The metallic pink of ORLY’s Can’t Jet Enough is like the Sailor Moon punched-up version of it.”

French Bridal Tips–Sandy Liang

“While this is not a bridal collection, there are two brides at the end that sport the original French manicure with thin white tips,” Falcone adds. “Two fingers are accented with a white bow, applied with a detailer brush.”

3D Bubbles–Priscavera

“This collection features materials in so many colors and textures, we decided to match the nail color and finish exactly with the materials,” Falcone says. “We were able to get exact matches with existing ORLY shades, which made it easier. For these, we amped up the shine using ORLY’s Shining Armor, which is really a game changer for backstage. [ORLY’s Builder in the Bottle] can be used to create incredible 3D textures like these bubbles, or used to affix the gems and crystals securely.”

Pink Gingham–Batsheva

“We took inspiration directly from Batsheva’s variety of prints, fabrics, models’ personalities, and colors,” Falcone says. “The nail looks are a spin on the classic, elegant long nail, but they’re longer, almond-shaped, and feature more colorful shades and textures.”
